In order to reach the most people the Sun Catchers Project (SCP) will initially be providing institutions such as orphanages, schools and hospitals with Villager Ovens from Sun Oven International. This way we are helping a large group of people who are in dire need of clean water and hot, sanitary food every day. We will invite people of the community to see the Villager oven in action and will demonstrate how the small family size Sun Oven units work. This enables us to educate the community on the intricacies and benefits of the solar oven. With this new informaion we hope to encourage the idea of attainable solar technology for their homes.

SCP communicates with Paul Munsen, the President of Sun Oven International on a regular basis to discuss oven technology and improvements based on previous interactions with people in Africa who have used the villager oven as well as orphanages who look forward to owning a Villager Oven donated by the Sun Catchers Project. We also discuss solar education techniques and the development of small units for individual households. This is one of the more challenging aspects of the project because the materials needed for the ovens to work as efficiently as possible are hard to find and buy in most developing countries. SCP is currently collaborating with partner organizations to find better and more cost affective materials to achieve our goals for these small units.
